This is one in a series of writings telling of the factors God worked together as told us by Paul in Romans 8: 18-28 building the story of my life.

I chose this picture because it is the same style our house was durring the following story.
Upon a full acre our home was at the 100' wide front. Down a hill and up again, stood the well supplying our water. There was a wellhouse over it, protection from any stunt The original owners thought could come from son or daughter

I found myself working nights, catching sleep through the day. Praise the Lord for a babysitter who kept our children all After passing through several we found her, caring for our family, she said, was her Lords call.
Although he wanted no part of it, Sid honored my walk with Christ; He suggested the wellhouse where I could pray and think about life. Oh sweet retreat, all my own, when I'd take my little rest And seek God's face out back while Sidney watched the kids.
One summer day while sitting there, praying to our Lord I asked Him to explain to me something from
His Word. "I've done all that I know to do, kept my conversation as I've heard Please tell me what more I can do to bring him to You, Lord."
And then I heard a voice as plain as it could be.
Shut up and leave him alone, was what it spoke to me. I jumped up and looked around, no one could I see, "Was that voice You, Lord? Did I hear You speak?"
"I said shut up and leave him alone", a little sterner now. But He didn't leave it just at that and told me how "I have chosen someone you don't know and no body you know knows to bring him to myself." "OK Lord, grant me the strength to keep me on Your shelf."
Readying for work one night, I noticed Sidneys pool cue was propping up the bedroom window. "OK, Childern who did this?" My heart began to groan. Stepping in Sid said, "I did. Decided not to drink beer and play pool any more;
I got to thinking why go to town for hamburger when I have steak at home."
One fall day Sid informed me he was brushing up on his archery, "Don't worry, Lee, I'll keep my targets far from the children's play borders, aiming away from the house." A few days later he asked me if I had any more religious pictures as he'd run out of targets and used all he could find. It was only by the grace of God my reply was sweet and kind,
Sundays he started taking off with my car with his keys in his pocket When I got home from work and readied the children for church. So I'd get out the faithful buggy it was more than a mile to church but that wouldn't stop us. Down hill going, up hill home, and dinner, then rest for that night's work.
Winter was coming so I prayed once more "Lord, what can I do To keep my children in the Word and help them learn of YOU?" I heard that voice speak loud and clear "Teach the children at home."
Knowing wives are subject to their husbands, according to His Word. I asked permission, and Sidney said I could. "You can teach them in the living room, if you think that's any good."
Our bedroom was attached to the living room, I since wondered if he thought that through. He would climb out our bedroom window to keep himself from view. Keeping to our alloted time we would sing and know God's glory. They loved to role play from the Book as I told the story.
Now Sid and Dad always had a mutual respect, channeled man to man.
My parents had secured an abandoned school property and planned to make of it a camp. When hearing the shape it was in, Sidney decided Daddy needed a helping hand. Each trip we'd have some project on the building and land.
Being a letter carrier, Sidney worked days; So he'd pack us up, load the van and pick me up from work when we could get away. We set up beds in a classroom, and that is where we would stay. Sometimes the children could help with chores, but there was always time for play.
Six children snoring in the same partitioned room made quite the symphony. It was to their music the two of us would fall asleep. By the time Easter rolled around camp was ready for a "See What God Did Meet". Opening services would last all day in this place of retreat.
Sid attended part of the services that Easter day
These were just some of the factors God knew would fall in place.
Out back on the old wellhouse, when I sought His face.
Yes, there is more to tell about the day that Sid got saved.
