Secret Figure 4 Game
We moved to the upholstery shop on Central Avenue;
Mom and Dad so busy with all there was to do.
There was a kindly neighbor we had on Darby Street
Who said he'd be glad to meet our family's need
He was elderly and healthy, with time upon his hands;
Whenever he was needed, just call, he'd fit our plan.
He came and watched over us; even played our games.
Then one day he wanted to teach me one with a new name.
The Secret Figure Four Game
I didn't like his brand new game, it made my tummy turn. When told he would come again, I began to mourn.
Momma, I know he played our games. Do I have to play his too? Daddy, I don't like his game, even though it is brand new.
Daddy asked about the game and what was the rule.
I said that it's a secret and he has a special tool.
But Daddy said it's alright, secrets with parents are ok.
So I told, and the friendly old man didn't come that day.
When I asked if he was mad at me because I told his secret; Momma said No, he was going to talk to a judge about it. The judge sent our old neighbor somewhere far away; I missed the friendly old man, but I never missed his game.
Make the time to LISTEN to your child for you never know
When someone who has gained your trust may have hurt them so. No one can be with their child every minute of every day, But everyone can listen to what their child has to say.
