This is one in a series of writings telling of the factors God worked together, as told us by Paul in Romans 8: 18-28, building the story of my life.

A Fixed Heart shows my last picture of Sid while his back was fine;
An industrial accident broke two vertebra in the lumbar region of his spine.
Seeing him in so much pain broke this poor heart of mine;
While doctors and lawyers seemed to take their own sweet time.

He moved us from California to Kansas, back to family and home;
Not knowing when, or if settlement for injuries would com.
A brother offered him a place with them if we would only come;
The plan was Sid would stay with them until he could establish us a home.

He left me and our four children in a tiny little town,
living safely with my parents until a good job could be found.
His muscles could only do so much to hold his back up strong,
And each time they gave out another job was gone.

This story could get very long, for economy I'll tell
Low rent housing brought our family living under the same roof.
He could not bend, but double spinal fusion held his back up well.
All before the settlement finally did come through.

~~~~~ As time passed by our children numbered six ~~~~~
Brother Workman had reached out his hand; it was as a magnet Sid told
Their hands were brought together and both of them took hold.
They wound up at the altar, joining hearts in prayer,
Sidney cried out to the Lord and gave Him his every care.
No one there but family knew about Sids back or pain,
For he was very proud and never would complain.
A woman from the audience laid hands on him and prayed.
Her fingers lightly went down his shirt back; above his belt they stayed.
Sid jumped up and turned around to find my mom in a chair.
He asked her why she had kicked him as he knelt in prayer.
Every one had seen it, she had not moved about.
He said he knew he felt it and pulled his shirt tail out.
That woman God had pray for him 'just happened' to be a nurse.
When she saw the scars upon his back she knew the worst.
She asked him to bend forward and try to touch the floor.
He could! then he bent backward and touched the floor once more.
Sidney led us outside where he did cartwheels in praise.
This is just one of the factors God knew would fall in place.
When he gave God first place in his heart that Easter day.
Yes, there is more to tell about the day that Sid got saved.
