My brother's wife took to caring for our baby while I was at work
So Sidney wouldn't have to deal with bottles, diapers and such.
They lived about half a mile from work, and closer than we to my folks.
It was quite a good arrangement to keep the family in touch.
Finding a George Washington Birthday Sale at our favorite go to store We purchased each child their own suitcase for 2 dollars and 22 cents. Now they wouldn't have to share packing laundry baskets any more. And, after necessities, each could choose to take anything that would fit.
Time got away as time will do with all needing to be done
So I decided to stop at the Laundromat on my way to work
After leaving our T.V. at a repair shop. Picture tube was gone
Two days after the warranty; my mood was trying to get dark.
About 0 dark thirty in the morning Dad made a call to Sid;
Some campground plumbing was plugged and a bathroom overrun.
Sid called my brother saying we would leave my car with him.
Getting off work I faced yet another clue; Satan was having fun.
Long story short; there was so much to do for the camp and we'd already come,
So we decided to stay another day and let things go undone at home. Overwhelmed with all the happenings, my mood dropped down to glum. It was just about at that time Mom called me to the phone.
It was a cousin who had heard on her radio the police were looking for us. She was crying, asked about the children, and hard to understand. When she calmed down, I asked the reason for all the fuss. She said,"Last night your home, everything you own, burned to the ground."
Immediately a reckoning dropped into my heart and I shouted "Hallelujah" She thought I'd lost my mind. I explained we had not lost anything that couldn't be replaced. Each child even had their favorite Christmas gift in their new suitcase.
The fire marshal said, he thought the furnace was at fault
But told us there wasn't enough left for him to really tell.
Sidney exclaimed as he peered into the smoldering vault,
"From the smell and looks of that, who would want to go to Hell?"
Now I could understand why God moved on Sid's heart;
He had even let the children bring their little dog.
Something we had agreed would not be all that smart.
We were saved from the fire by following the leading of the Lord!
