A friendly smile, a kindly word.
It seems, are seldom seen or heard.
"It's so old fashioned now", they say.
To stop a neighbor, and pass the time of day.
But Christ met all, with a hand outstretched.
And a word of love for those He met.
Though his time was short, and so much to do.
He never hurried on, or expressed regret.
For the time He spent with those He met.

I know not when, nor how, nor why.
But times have changed for you and I.
As we let life pass us by,
And never stop to think or do
The job Christ turned over to me and you.
Slow down my friend and think a while,
Greet that neighbor with a word and a smile.
For as you know, the end is nigh.
And in your hurry you might, Christ, pass by.
