Returning to Jesus Christ as Lord of my Life
2Samuel 11 records David messed up big time. He left God on the porch and played in the parlor. In his rooftop respite he noticed a beautiful woman and his sin spiral began. God still loved David and He still loves YOU. God sent a prophet to speak conviction to David and your presence on this page states that He has done whatever it took to speak conviction to you.
When Kind David repented of his sins he prayed:
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10

My thoughts:

The Scriptures put a name to the condition of mans soul when he has walked away from God.
In 2Samuel 11 this was the condition of David's soul. Today we have these Scriptures to assure us God will not leave us in a "backslidden" condition:
The If Factor:
Return, ye backslidden children, and I will heal your backslidings.

Hosea 14:4           I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely: for mine anger is turned away.....

2Chronicles 7:14           If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble    themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

1John 1:9           If we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

The Bad News:
2Peter 2:20        For if after they have escaped the polutions of the world.... they are entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

The Good News:
2Peter 3:9        The Lord is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Putting the Word into prayer:
Lord, I've messed up and now come back to You. Heal my backslidings and cleanse me from all unrighteousness, I pray. I choose to turn from my wicked way (and do it!) but have become entangled. Help me not be overcome by this sin. Create in me a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within me that I might walk in unity with Your will for my life.                  Amen.
