As a child, we thought as a child and spoke as a child
But childhood days are now long gone
And the words you say can make one feel so tall
Or can make one feel so very small
This little poem is just to say
What is in my heart and thoughts today
How many may remember this one
“Sticks and stones may break my bones
but words will never hurt me”….
How very wrong is this little rhyme
Little words can mean the very most to us
Such as, I love you -- you are in my heart always
But harsh words can tear one apart
And surely can break one’s heart
Speak softly and take care of what you say
For unkind words spoken
May come back to haunt you someday
Speak kindly to those around you
Don’t pass judgment on people for what you perceive
The truth as you see, it to be
For what is inside the heart of someone
You have no ability to see
Don’t be quick to express your opinion
For your opinion or judgment of another
May just be the last word he hears
To break the heart of your brother
Speak love, not hate and pass on kindness
Remember what our Lord has told us to do
To love our brother as ourselves
And surely love and kindness will
Come right back to you.
