Here we wonder with a young woman, look into her world.
She's young, engaged, pure, and sold out to her God.
Everything is going great, her life is right on track
With her peoples traditions and she's not turning back.

Then she has a visitor that sends her life into a whirl;
God sent His herald angel to this simple peasant girl.
Gabriel told Mary how she fit into God's plan;
Her first words to Gabriel, "I don't see how I can".

So when we look into Mary's heart it is easy to see
She wasn't that much different than you, or even me.
Has God given you a job to do, told you of His plan;
Immediately your heart cried out, "I don't see how I can"?

God does not require more than just accept the task,
Lay aside your doubts and fears and do just as He asks.
He already has each step laid out ahead of you.
Nothing is impossible when He empowers you!

Matthew 12:46~John 19:25~Acts 1:14
Mary

Although all scripture references are listed above for your convenience we will be concentrating in this study on the young fiancé and what it meant to her plans for her future at that time. This is one of those times when already knowing the rest of the story may hinder our ability to behold her scenario. But if we can we shall realize that although her ministry is hers alone and no other shall ever repeat her service to God or her place in the heart of saints world wide, God is the same for you as He was for Mary. True, He placed the embryo Christ in only Mary and no other. It is also true He will place within you whatever it is that you need to do the ministry He has called you to. Mothering our Savior was Mary's ministry; what is yours? Let's look at some factors we have in common with Mary:

Luke 1:26-27 Where did this plan come from?

Luke 1:28-29 Were Mary and Gabriel "on the same page" immediately? Explain.

Luke 1:29 Do you think Mary exhibited signs of fear?
What reassurance does Gabriel use to put Mary at ease?

Luke 1:30-33 Gabriel lays out the plan.

Luke 1:34 Do you agree that at this point Mary's mind was on what she could do and not on what God could do in her? Explain.

Luke 1:35 Is Mary still wondering how she can? What do you think is going on in her mind?

*Note Elizabeth was barren and well beyond childbearing years (Luke 1:7).

Luke 1:36-37 Gabriel explains how God will bring this to pass and why He can.

* Before going on we need to see how much Gabriel was telling Mary to trust God:

Matthew 1:18-19 She had no control over how her fiance` would respond to her submission to this plan of God's that most assuredly affected him, nor what he would think of her.

Deuteronomy 22:13-21 She had every reason to expect to be stoned to death before she could give birth to this Child.
What would her parents think?
Do?

Luke 1:38 What was the only consideration Mary voiced? and her decision?
Gabriels next course of action?

Luke 2:39-40 Why so you think Mary made this trip?

The rest of the story is for another lesson. Here I shall simply inform any who may not know that God kept His end of the bargain beyond anything Mary could have imagined that encounter with Gabriel. And since we have it on good authority (Acts 10:34) God is no respecter of persons; does it not follow that He will provide for and protect you and your family as you go about the call He has placed on you?

Does it not follow that He will place within you whatever it takes to carry out His plan?
