I open the Bible up and
there upon the pages
Are the words my soul longs to know
Things I need for today and things
That happened long ago
I often do not understand each
and every word
But within my soul I long
to know more
Oh Lord I thank you for the Bible
For the scriptures I adore

Sometimes I need advice or help
In times of trouble and deep despair
Sometimes I need to see how for even
The Lilies you adourned them
With your loving care

The Raven fed a man in the Bible
He brought him meat and bread everyday
Oh my Lord you leave me
in such awe of you
The miracles you performed back when
And the things you do today too

You used sin to teach men about you
You destroyed those who
worshipped other gods
Yet your gentle hand was so
merciful during times
The people thought they would surely die
Yet you spared them and their prayers
Of humbled heart you did not deny

I thank you for the teachings
in the Holy book
Of life and pray for your wisdom
and understanding
As this life as we know it becomes
even more demanding
Let your words pierce our hearts
and may we never forget
All that you have done and
are able to do for us all
Whether it be just a blessing
or a hand to lift us when we fall
