Amid all the monuments that mark the conflicts rage
    Gettysburg battlefield has one monument to faith.
    An humble Catholic priest knelt by the dying to give aide;
    And there, among the tumolt, his heart spoke as he prayed.
    The common thread is "good" where Fr. Corby stood.

    There came a time when he sat with others of like faith.
    They had a dream which opened up for history a new page.
    These men pooled their resources.
    They worked, they planned, they prayed;
    Not always in that order; the result was Notre Dame.
    The common thread is "good" where Fr. Corby stood.

    If it be where battle rages or in his heart a song,
    None would doubt the faith that kept him through it all.
    Written down on history's pages, brief encounter or suffer long,
    Lived this man in those days he went where need would call.
    The common thread is "good" where Fr. Corby stood.

    As we go about our daily lives and opportunity comes our way
    May our hearts be set to find someone to bless as we may.
    And when our time on earth has ended at the close of day
    Would these words be testimony
    our memory would prompt to say
    The common thread is "good" where you and/or I stood?
