This is one in a series of writings telling of the factors God worked together as told us by Paul in Romans 8: 18-28 building the story of my life.
The Family Factor
We'd go down and help the folks each chance we found Sid thought Daddy was too old to work so hard This time was all day meeting with dinner on the grounds I worked the camp kitchen, Sidney worked the yard
Momma was the pastor, Daddy was a saint
I poorly led the song that the rest would sing
Some one must have filed their version of complaint
Sid kept working on the grounds while the rest of us did our thing
We didn't have Children's Church back then
got hallelujah got amen
got glory to God And their fun would begin.
They told us they made up the game to keep from getting bored
was learning less from more So they let her cat mark count their score.
would sleep upon a seat.
on the floor.
Sidney told the children to sit on the first row
so if anybody acted up he could watch and know.
made a cat mark thought his own.
Such a major injustice he couldn't just let it go.
's eyes got big, 's face was white Their daddy walked into the church and sat down by his side. Sidney simply signaled me "continue with the song." To my gaze inquiring "Husband, what is wrong?"
Sid attended the rest of the services that Easter day This was just one factor God knew would fall in place. While "Holier Than Thou" thought our family a disgrace. Yes, there is more to tell about the day that Sid got saved.
