There are times we pray for one thing or
another as we name them all one-by-one.
But as true believers we’re taught by God
to also pray , "Your will be done."

Yet, in the process of so many words lifted
those four are most powerful indeed.
For those four words are directing our hearts
to the One who supplies all our needs.

While God in his glory knows our whole story
and welcomes our heartfelt expressions,
He lets us ask from our human perspective
while His sovereignty teaches us lessons.

And if we truly pray for His will to be done
we can digest when His answer is “no.”
For God shuts the doors…but we later see reasons
then we trust Him as we spiritually grow.

Sometimes in prayer we ask God for one thing
and watch Him moving to grant us a “yes.”
Roadblocks are lifted….and doors open to show us
that it’s God and only God who can bless.

“Thy will be done” aligns us in submission
toward a God who’s all-knowing and wise;
Asking for what 's best through His perfect wisdom
and the future He sees with His eyes.

Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
